In The Undiscovered Drawer Moulton lets protagonist Cynthia emerge - her alter ago by her own admission. Cynthia is a nerdy, hypochondriac neo-hippy who goes in search of happiness, beauty and spiritual fulfilment.
Moulton sets her in psychedelic, pastel-coloured interiors which look just as though they’ve escaped from an eighties or nineties magazine. Using green-screen techniques and digital manipulation she makes the interiors and objects in Cynthia’s room come to life.
In The Undiscovered Drawer a closed door prevents Cynthia from leaving her room. The key is located in a strange writing desk which appears to possess magical powers. Secret drawers and changing cupboards constantly confuse her.
