Emika & Pins
Emika - Erna Jolly - is an English-born Czech who was classically trained in piano and composition in England. But classical music couldn’t hold her for long and she quickly came under the spell of electronic music and dubstep. Her style grew even broader and more complex after relocating to Berlin. Emika is also fascinated by the human voice and its narrative possibilities. All her fascinations come together on her untitled debut, which appeared on Ninja Tune in late 2011. On Dva Emika lets you hear how hope and gloom go hand in hand: dark electronica with dubstep overtones where Emika’s voice takes centre stage. This is a lady definitely worth discovering
Formed in the final few months of 2011, PINS began to cause a stir long before their first two tracks were recorded, thanks to a series of scintillating shows in their native Manchester. Once they were finally online, in spring 2012, things quickly began to develop, with the band self releasing the single through their own HAUS OF PINS label as a limited run of gold cassettes, which sold out in minutes. Since then, PINS have released their debut EP on gold glittered 10" vinyl - the now sold-out LUVU4LYF. Taking in four tracks, it gave a breif glimpse of the bands range.
