OUT of LOVE
This June we need some space
because things are complicated </3
From June 10–20, OUT of LOVE unfolds throughout all of Beursschouwburg as a multidisciplinary festival dedicated to endings and the complexities of letting go.
Inspired by our building’s approaching renovations, OUT of LOVE turns a critical eye toward the cultural scripts that shape how we live, love, and leave. From romantic myths to gendered expectations, what happens when those pillars of habit come crumbling down?
Rather than rushing toward solutions, OUT of LOVE lingers between the grief, anger, relief, confusion, … There where emotion, imagination, pleasure, and responsibility can coexist. A crack where something else can emerge. How can we treat endings as spaces of attention? How can vulnerability and care circulate in unexpected directions? How do we desire, after an ending and before a beginning?
For two weeks, OUT of LOVE transforms Beursschouwburg into a place for rehearsing break-ups with habits, certainties, institutional rhythms, and structures that no longer serve us. Through performances, concerts, film screenings, reading groups, talks, a communal dinner-for-one, and a flea market for stuff your ex left behind, we gather to share practices that navigate loss, desire, transition, and renewal.
So let’s break up together,
out of love.
