Colorful electronics from a jazz saxophonist-composer? Yes please!
Shoko Igarashi grew up in the Japanese countryside of Yamagata, where she started playing the saxophone at an early age. Via Tokyo, Boston and Brooklyn she finally settled in Brussels in 2018 and founded the group Maniac Maison together with her partner, pianist Casimir Liberski, and with guitarist Lucien Fraipont (Robbing Millions). In her solo work, Shoko Igarashi brings together various influences: 70s jazz fusion, Japanese City Pop, anime film scores and funky psychedelia à la Earth Wind & Fire and Sly & the Family Stone. Her colorful electronics are suited for connoisseurs, easy listening and summer evenings alike. Shoko Igarashi's debut album Simple Sentences was released earlier this year by French label Tigersushi Records and has what it takes to become part of your 2022 summer soundtrack.
